Time to catch up on my blogs.
Hey, look. More Video. In my quest to become more proficient with the new camera and to see what Tu does while he teaches, I followed his camera crew. Master Tu does a cable access show. They taped last Wednesday. I had no idea what they were doing. There was a lot of pointing to different meridians on the body that helped with Chi flow. Master Tu said “Dantien” a lot which is a reservoir for Chi that’s about three inches below the navel and two inches behind.
Even if the discussion about Chi was too mystical, there was a lot of techniques on weight lifting as well. But he combined it all. He showed his students the proper positions for backs and lifting. They did a lot of breathing at various stages of the exercises. And a few explosives breaths for focus. At one point Tu had 360 lbs on the bar and did some presses. I guess that wasn’t enough, because he then went and added an additional 90 pounds on the bar. I think that was the only time I saw him winded all night.
Of course the most natural thing to do after all that heavy lifting is a round of painting, right? It is if you’re Master Tu. He brought the class in for another demonstration of those techniques. The class also got a chance to practice on their own.
He concluded his TV show in front of the class. They practiced driving weights into the air. At one point, Master Tu actually tossed his 45 pound weight in the air so he could switch hands.
Again, I can’t use this footage for the documentary. My lawyer has sent me release forms I need to get people to sign before I can show their smiling faces in a big budget production. It was good to see Master Tu doing what he does, though.
